Hinata looks at Tsukishima and his cheeks feel hot and flushed. He feels like everything got out of hand but then again it’s not like he really had a good idea of how to go about things to begin with, clearly.

“Huh? What do you mean?”

That often seem clueless look as he tilts his head. Is there something he should know to say… what’s Tsukki wanting here…

Tsukki sighs. Not like he has much more experience.

"That's a start."

Was this an obvious thing? How did it get past him? He's been blindsided, and he's not good with people hiding information. The feeling of it things drips down his spine, acid, biting. Wanting an outlet. To shake it out of Hinata until everything makes sense again.

"I mean about having... I don't know. A crush? Enough to pull this stunt."

Hinata stares at the floor because looking at Tsukishima is just too hard. He's embarrassed and a little bit ashamed. He's afraid but he's not sure what exactly what of, it's not like Tsukishima would actually do something to hurt him.

"I mean I guess yeah I've always... kinda thought that way? And then I was uh kinda..." he shrugs. He was horny and he wanted to know more about his crush's dick but he sure as fuck can't get that out.

Geeze. Guys like Hinata just go for things without thinking. It might be flattering.

If it weren't so confusing.

"Always? Since we met?"

When Tsukki was an absolute ass to Kageyama (who deserved it) and Hinata (who maybe didn't). Hormones Don't Care. It's one thing to understand that, another to see the results. Hinata looking like he wants to melt into the floor.

“Yeah… even when you were a giant jerk,” Hinata huffs out, glancing at him briefly. “Even when you made fun of me.” Maybe he actually liked that.

"So - That's your thing. Asshole."

It's supposed to be a joke. Just something to go back to normal. Instead, Tsukki feels even more off-kilter. All the barbs and snark and Hinata found that attractive? That was... not the plan.

Hinata flushes even more and he ducks his head, covering his face with his hands. It's obvious by the fact even his ears are red that he's embarrassed.

"I said I'm sorry!"

Tsukki winces. Realizes where the mistake is. He'd been making fun of himself, not Hinata.

This time.

"I meant your type is Assholes! Like, who you're into!"

Hinata hadn't even realized anyone was being made fun of really. But he'd already been on edge about this whole thing now and well if Tsukishima's mad at him that would make complete sense and all!

He blinks when Tsukishima explains what was actually meant though and well he moves his hands away from his face to peer at him. "Oh, well... maybe you're right about that."

"Tch."

There's something weirdly endearing about this. Coaxing Hinata out of the meltdown. Tsukki feels his chest loosen, just a fraction. It's not like you can control crushes.

He shakes his head. Almost managing a smirk.

"Your bad luck, I guess!"

Hinata's face hasn't returned to it's normal color yet but he is visibly calmer than he'd been just a few seconds ago.

"Are you saying it's bad luck to be into you? Why? Are you dating Yamaguchi after all...That'd make sense."

"Ah - what? No!"

Emotional whiplash. He should sue.

Tsukki huffs.

"Is that what you thought? Because Yamaguchi is very, very Straight."

"...Oh."

That's a surprise.... at least the straight part. He'd been mixed on if he really thought they were dating or not.

"Okay."

Tsukki's keeping that buried. There's quite enough drama going on here without the ghosts of 5th grade.

"Oh," Hinata, scratches his cheek and looks at Tsukishima directly, though, for once there might be a hint of shyness there.

"Do... me...?"

He's missing some words but Tsukishima is pretty good at translating Hinata by now, right?

Tsukki tilts his head.

"Do you? Wow."

"You know what I'm trying to ask!!" Hinata exclaims. Come on he's had to admit a lot of things already! Just put him out of his misery!

Misery that is 100% self-inflicted.

"You're trying to ask me out."

Tsukki isn't teasing now. Just looks at Hinata. Long and considering.

"Okay. Let's hear one thing you actually like about me. Don't just agree that I'm an asshole."

Obviously, since he's already made it clear he's interested in knowing about his dick and all too. That he's had a crush on him forever now... He puffs out his cheeks and lets out a loud exhale.

"You are a butthead but... I like your voice and your face, and your hands. I like the way you play volleyball. You're SO tall... and I bet you could pick me up if you wanted..."

he trails off. That's probably not relevant at the moment.

It might be relevant. Because it sure is something to hear all that's been on Hinata's mind. Much more effective than the... unfortunate opening. Clearing his throat, Tsukki shrugs. Feeling heat on his neck and ears. Damn it. He's blushing. No way to hide that.

"Well. Thanks. Okay, fine."

Hinata bites his lip and glances over Tsukishima. He notices the way he's flushing and it makes him relax a bit more.

"So are you interested...?"

"I said 'Fine', didn't I?!"

That does not come out nearly as cool as he hoped.

Tsukki inhales. Exhales. Only talks once he can trust his voice again.

"Okay. One date."

[tanjerin]

"Fine could've meant anything!"

Hinata blushes again in spite of the fact he'd just relaxed again.

"One date...ever?"

"One, and then we see. For all I know you're a terrible date!"

Teasing.

Teasing is safe, and hopefully riles up Hinata into a more familiar pattern. There is so much new territory here. Tsukki needs to process it.

"What?!" Hinata quite nearly yells. "I'm a great date!!"

He has no idea. He's not really gone on a date before but that's besides the point!
