[Ah, that's why Tsukishima's so darn cute right now... Sugawara's obviously being let in on a lifelong love for dinosaurs, so he's getting to see flickers of a younger, more innocent boy behind the protective walls Tsukishima has put up over time.]

I'm glad we started with this movie. Thanks for sharing it with me.

[Suga means the whole experience, really, but he doesn't need to put a fine point on it.]

I mean, look at him! There's literally nothing to be embarrassed about here. You have impeccable taste.

I looked up Jeff Goldblum after I saw The Fly for the first time and every second link was that shot of him. It just got imprinted onto my brain that everyone's horny for Goldblum in Jurassic Park.

[Cheekily:] So of course I had to ask you about it!

[Wow. Score is now 1-1. Tsukki can't believe that was a set-up. Before he can analyze too much - Time for Dr. Sattler and Muldoon to go re-set the power. Good news? No T-Rex attack!

RAPTORS.]

[It's impressive how quickly this movie can draw Suga back in, considering how much fun he has teasing Tsukishima between action scenes, but the tension just never stops. From nearly electrocuting children to the appearance of raptors, which are a completely different kind of scary, Suga winds up clutching the edges of the couch cushion again.]

Noooooo, these ones are the worst! Stupid strong snouts breaking through everything!! At least you have time to notice the T-rex!

[Tsukki snorts when the kid goes flying. It's funny, okay? Fortunately, the dinosaurs have monopolized Sugawara's attention. He's right. The raptor pack is much worse.]

The T-Rex forgets about you if there's slower food.

The raptors are smart.

[The hunt continues. Hissing and chirping, raptors stalk into a lobby. Sniffing around for the tasty, terrified children cowering nearby.]

[In the softest whisper, as if he, too, is afraid of being found by a raptor, Suga asks:]

Is it wrong that I feel worst for the girl? The boy's no more of a shit-disturber than any of us were at that age, but... she just wants to live her life and it's non-stop...

[After some consideration, he has to admit:] Might just be because her eyes get so big when she's scared, though.

[Tsukki keeps his own voice low.]

No. She knows how bad this is.

[Because she sees the whole situation. Knows the monsters will kill her, her brother, and their only chance is hide. Stay quiet, even as the doorknob slowly turns.]

Yeah... it makes her feel more doomed, somehow.

Not that it's great watching all the innocent joy leave his eyes either.

[Typical Sugawara - he's always most engaged when the kids are facing danger, muttering encouragements under his breath instead of yelling at the screen in fury.]

[It probably shouldn't be a surprise, Sugawara caring about kids. Even these fictional ones. He's kind of a Mother Hen. A cheeky, harassing one.

Before this observation goes further, the raptors pounce and everything dissolves into screaming, running, the kids getting to the adults with a 3rd dinosaur right on their heels - ]

[A lot of his nurturing qualities have developed as a result of having such a sensitive little brother, and his fear that the rigors of school and its attached social demands would devour Kenzo whole. How much of it just comes naturally to him... well, even he'd struggle to say. But youth tends to bring certain types of vulnerability with it, and vulnerable people will always have Suga's complete support.

The ones who hide it behind spikes and razor wire just receive a more bracing type of support, that's all.

For the next while, as the chase weaves through set piece after set piece and every moment of glory is painfully short-lived, Suga sits unnaturally still and his attention remains fixated on the screen. No snacks, no drink, no asides unless Tsukishima brings anything up. He has no familiarity with the series beyond this movie so as far as he knows, anyone could die.

He also knows that American movies tend to spare children from the horrific fates that regularly befall adult characters in action movies like this, but he's so hooked into the narrative now that the thought offers him no sense of security.]

[Spikes and razor wire are aesthetic and fine where they are.

Thank you very much.

There's a thousand facts Tsukki could rattle off. That the younger kid was passed over for a role then Spielberg promised he'd be in another film. The raptors could only be shot fifteen minutes at a time. There's a CGI face on a stunt person when they fall through a grill.

All of it fades as he watches - Not so much the movie as Sugawara. Intensity radiates off him.]

[Not until they reach the main entrance with the huge hanging skeleton does Suga notice he's being observed. He's spent enough time watching Tsukishima that he should probably assume it's a similar situation - he's never seen Sugawara this still and focused, and he finds it interesting - but when he catches the reflection of Tsukishima's eyes on the backs of his lenses and realizes they're turned toward him, it gives him a jolt of self-conscious surprise and his cheeks flush red.

No sooner has he turned his head and opened his mouth to ask what's up than the skeleton starts falling apart and the movie once again demands his attention. Raptors encircling humans, a T-rex attacking raptors... maybe Suga will forget the moment by the time they get another breather and are able to talk to each other.]

[There's a second of -

Something.

Then comes the crowning scene. Humans making their escape as Rexy roars in triumph. The 'Welcome to Jurassic Park' banner flutters down. Bowing to her rule.]

Know what they call that? Dinos Rex Machina.

[That joke deserves a dry look and a groan, but Sugawara needs to laugh so badly after being frozen in fear for so long that his earlier case of the giggles comes right back.]

That's terrible, you should be ashamed! [But he just keeps on laughing as he collapses against the back of the couch, head lolling back until his face is tipped up toward the ceiling.] Am I gonna be able to catch my breath, or is there more mortal peril?

[Tsukishima smirks. Nothing but smug.]

Well, I'm not!

[The survivors huddle together. Children falling asleep on Dr. Grant, completing his character arc. Music swells and sweeps the helicopters and audience away. Leaving Isla Nublar to the dinosaurs.

Roll credits.]

That's it. You need a paper bag to breathe into?

[Suga wrinkles his nose at that last remark and throws a pocky stick at Tsukishima.]

Those kids were just so cute! It's not fair putting kids that cute in peril!

[Then he stands up to stretch out his back and get the feeling back in his legs, which wound up tucked beneath him for the last act of the movie.]

But we probably should take a break before the next movie anyway. Oh, I don't think I've told you yet - the bathroom's upstairs, last door on the right.

2 - 1.

Sticking it in his mouth, he nods. Heading upstairs.]

[Standing between himself and the last door on the right, Tsukishima will find one (1) 4'11" child that just wants to get back to his bedroom but has found his way blocked by a giant. Why are so many of Koushi-nii's friends giants??

He slowly, slowly cranes his head all the way up until he's able to make out the giant's face, then shrinks back a bit more at the cool expression he finds there.]

[Oh. The brother. Who looks like he's about to faint. Tsukki's not wild about kids, but has no reason to scare them.

He steps aside. Giving Kenzo plenty of room.]

[Kenzo almost bolts the second he's got enough space, but then the giant speaks to him and he knows it's rude not to acknowledge an apology. He looks down at his feet, back up at (what's his name again? Koushi told him. Tsuki-something) the older boy, and finally manages a tiny smile and nod.

Then he's gone so fast there might as well be a dust cloud behind him. He's clearly a Kenma in need of a Kuroo if there ever was (another) one.

Meanwhile, Suga sits downstairs texting someone else and sipping calpico with no idea that Tsukishima nearly gave his brother a heart attack by existing.]

Going about his business, Tsukki washes up and heads back down.]

Your brother's really fast, Senpai.

Eh?

[Suga sets his phone aside when Tsukishima returns, but the words take a second to process.]

Oh - did Kenzo show his face?? I'll have to congratulate him later! He's even terrified of Daichi... [There was more to that sentence, something about how much time Daichi has spent at the house, but Suga manages to trail off in a way that sounds at least somewhat natural.] ... and Asahi won't come back here after the reaction he got, the big dummy.
